Focus Monke stores your core focus data on your device. Optional online features send the data described below. Analytics sharing is controlled separately in Settings. We do not sell your data.
Your saved data
Your main save, session history, collection, balances and settings are stored on your device. With usage sharing on, selected values also go to PostHog: planned and completed minutes, session outcomes, rewards, fish species and rarity, streak days, season level, sound choices and whether you requested app blocking. Selected app and category tokens stay on your device.
Usage sharing
With usage sharing on, PostHog receives usage and purchase events linked to a saved device identifier based on Apple's identifier for vendor, or a random identifier if unavailable. If you join the weekly league, we can link this analytics identifier to your league profile and chosen name in our private dashboard. This data is not anonymous.
Opening the review page can report time away, capped at six hours, the prompt surface and variant, standard analytics properties and the event time. The app does not read your review.
Turn usage sharing off in Settings to disable new capture after the setting reaches the SDK. Events already queued may still upload, including their device identifier, even after an app restart.
Purchases
Apple handles App Store payments. RevenueCat starts only when usage sharing is on at launch. It receives a stable device identifier, purchase records, Apple Ads attribution and subscriber details. Turning sharing off stops purchase and subscriber reports from the app immediately. Automatic RevenueCat requests may continue until you fully quit the app. RevenueCat stays off on the next launch while sharing is off. Turning sharing off does not delete past records or stop reports between servers.
Online identity
Group Study and the weekly league can use the same random device ID saved in secure device storage, with separate service tokens and records.
Group Study
Rooms share your chosen name, region flag, cosmetics, displayed fish, study topic and timer state with our server and room members. The flag comes from your device region, not GPS. Invite links expire after 24 hours and may stop working earlier if the room closes. Friend connections remain until removed. Identity tokens expire within 30 days. When another record of the same kind is saved, the server removes presence and App Attest records older than 30 days and session receipts older than 48 hours. Until then, these records can remain indefinitely, and older presence details can still be returned to friends. App Attest and receipt lookups exclude records beyond those ages.
Weekly league
Joining shares your name, cosmetics, region, session timing and earned XP with our league server. Session timing is retained for 35 days before scheduled cleanup. Weekly totals and boards cover the current week (Monday to Sunday, UTC) plus eight completed weeks before cleanup is due. Actual deletion waits for a cleanup run; boards can receive an extra week for pending results, and failed cleanup can take longer. Leaving the league deletes your profile and league history as cleanup completes. We keep your league identifier and internal deletion counters without a set expiry to prevent delayed requests from restoring erased data. The deletion timestamp can remain indefinitely if no later request arrives; it clears when you rejoin or when a later request checks it after eight weeks. Leaving or deleting the app does not erase previously uploaded analytics or purchase records. You can leave at any time. We do not ask your age.
Device features and backups
The camera is used only for selfies you take. Face detection happens on your device. You choose whether to save or share each photo. The app keeps photos on your device unless you share them. App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time tokens. Notifications are scheduled locally. The Home Screen widget reads a private device snapshot. Exported backups go wherever you choose to send them; Apple Photos syncing and device backups follow your Apple settings and privacy policy. We do not use the advertising identifier or sell your data.
Deletion and questions
Analytics and purchase records already received by service providers may remain after you stop sharing or delete the app. Data uploaded by previous app versions may also remain subject to provider retention policies. Removing a feature does not erase earlier uploads. For deletion requests, contact [email protected].
Deleting the app removes its local save, not data already sent to providers or backups you made. Focus Monke is for a general audience. For privacy questions or deletion requests, including a child's information, contact [email protected]. Updated policies ship with the app.
